Introducing The Vintage Gamers’ New Love Affair, The NeoGeo X:

Created by Blaze, the NeoGeo X is the next up and coming handheld game console for 2012.  It is based off the original Neo Geo and appears to be similar to the iphone in design. This version is created exclusively for vintage gamers but it bears an overwhelming price tag. The Neo Geo X is over $700, way more than the cost of PS Vista or the 3D DS.  The price has not been set in stone yet thought.

Preview of: L.A. Noire

Reviewer: Dan McDonough
Title: L.A. Noire
Genre: FPS/Sandbox
Platform: Xbox 360

Rockstar’s next big title L.A. Noire is set to come out in spring 2010. It is set in a perfectly recreation of 1940’s Los Angeles. It draws aesthetic elements from film noir of the 1940’s, and 50’s, giving the game a very unique look. It also uses global illumination, adding more realistic lighting to the game. Unlike Rockstar’s previous games, L.A. Noire is much more linear and puts more emphasis on the story line. You play as Cole Phelps, an honorable police officer in the middle of a department scandal. You start as a cop in training and soon become a traffic cop, investigating car crimes. You work on several different desks with many missions, working your way up to Homicide Detective. A very cool feature is the level of how much you can interact with witnesses, and suspects, and absorbing information to solve the case you are working on. L.A. Noire looks great, and with Rockstar’s reputation should be, but we can only wait and see.

Preview of: Epic Mickey

Reviewer:         Amy Pistone

Epic Mickey is a game that seems to have already
breathed life into the Wii generation before it has even been released. It’s a combination of dark and twisted side of Disney that everyone knows exists with the sunny side everyone knows and loves to create an innovative game that excites people of all ages.

Title:               Goldeneye 007 (Wii)
System:           Wii
Genre:             First-person shooter

Golden Eye is a classic game for the N64. It is a shooting game, but the game developers created so many innovations through the original that it is truly mindboggling. Multiplayer was utilized effectively through the N64 version, and as a result the expectations are set high for the remake due out this holiday season. This is going to be another Wii-exclusive title, which is surprising due to the popularity of the title. Little was released about the game up to the date as of writing, so I’ll do my best to paint a picture of what’s to come.

It’s shocking to think that Donkey Kong really has not had a big appearance on the Wii besides his role in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Luckily, with the upcoming holiday release of Donkey Kong Country Returns, DK can finally make his mark on the Wii.
