Review of: Fable III

Title: Fable 3
System: Xbox 360/PS3
Genre: RPG, Action, Adventure

Lionhead Studios is back with Fable III, the third installment of their highly successful franchise. Fable 3 was kept pretty quiet, not making promises they cant fulfill. From my many hours of playing this I can say that it is not a game to miss, even if you are compliantly new to the series, although I recommend playing the first two first. The story takes place about fifty years after the second one in an Albion in dire need of a hero. Albion is being oppressively run by your brother Logan, and you must build an army to take his throne. Like the first two the game is a decision based game where your choices effect you throughout the game.
There are basically two parts of this game: building an army of followers, and acting as the king of Albion. To gain followers you must complete tasks for them by either retrieving something, or killing someone.  The tasks are diverse, and are funny, such as the one where you must act through a set of plays to retrieve a hidden story. When finished you must make a promise to gain their loyalty which you can later accept or decline. As the king of Albion, you must do tasks such as setting taxes, which effects your wealth and popularity. The character development in this game is very significant in the game, every decision you make determine how your character is treated even all of Albion.

Fable three’s game play is simplistic, and takes the style of a classic action game. Like all other Fable’s there are three basic means of attack: melee, firearms, and magic. As you advance through the game you can upgrade your weapons  by using guild gold you get from killing enemies. Your weapons physically change as you upgrade them, and they become faster and more deadly. Another new addition is your fathers room which building which contains four rooms. The armory has all your weapons, the wardrobe room contains all of your clothes, the trophy room shows all of your accomplishments, and the fourth room where you can have your xbox friends enter your world. In the lobby, there is a giant map of Albion where you can travel anywhere at the press of a button. This new building really helps to organize the game, and I found it very helpful.
The graphics of the game were exceptionally vivid, and brought the story to life. There is so much detail in every section of the game that while playing I had to stop many times just to look around. The sound really completes the game. Each weapon has its unique sound and is realistic. The british voices also sounded great, and was humorous as well.
This was by far my favorite game of the three. It has a good narrative, and a great story line. There are about 13 hours of game play you can get out of this massive RPG. This time my decisions made a big impact on the final outcome. This is a game for all gamers, and you will not regret buying it.
